‘In Terra’s Keep’ is the second album from the Glasgow-based band which combines musicians and trad sounds from across the Celtic lands, including Isla Callister from the Isle of Man. They describe the album in the following ways: “In Terra’s Keep explores the landscapes of Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man and the symbiotic relationship between land and traditional music. Landscapes have long influenced and inspired traditional music and folklore and its customs and practices are deeply rooted in land. Whilst a central tenet of traditional music is a strong sense of belonging to a place or region or a strong connection to a way of life, so are themes of travel and migration through different landscapes. In Terra’s Keep explores these themes through music and song. The album features a number of self-penned tunes, including ‘Laa Luanys’ (Lammas Day in Manx Gaelic), which references a folklore custom on the Isle of Man that connects to the Celtic deity Lugh and different cultural practices that span the Gaelic nations. These cultural practices are deeply rooted in landscapes. This album also collaborates with Isle of Man based artist and illustrator Vicky Webb (crumpets and crabsticks) whose work is inspired heavily by landscapes and the environment.”
